課程概述

This doctoral course is based on the simple (and sane) assumption that
semiotics is the foundation for literary studies, and being a meta-language, it
provides the methodology for language-based human sciences.

課程目標
The course will push this argument and try to convince and convert a handful of
aspiring comparatists.

課程要求
The medium of learning will be English, and the students, despite their
linguistic and disciplinary backgrounds, are required to fulfill the following
duties: (1) writing and submitting before class a critique of each and every
reading assignment; (2) presenting the critiques orally for class discussion;
(3) writing and submitting a term paper of 6,000 words on an approved topic
before 15th July 2005.
